Aperio presents RE:volver - Cello, Electronica, & the Mayan Apocalypse at Sicardi | Ayers | Bacino Gallery
Cellist Jeffrey Zeigler (formerly of the Grammy Award winning Kronos Quartet) performs a program of American premiers featuring works for solo cello and electronics by emerging Mexican composers featuring music by Cristobal Maryan, Hilda Paredes, Juan Andres Vergara, Jimena Maldonado, and Felipe Perez Santiago.
Described by the New York Times as a “fiery” player who performs “with unforced simplicity and beauty of tone,” Zeigler is one of the most versatile cellists of our time. Acclaimed for his independent streak, he has commissioned over three dozen works, and is admired as a potent collaborator and improviser.
Ziegler was the cellist of the internationally renowned Kronos Quartet for eight seasons. Since moving on from Kronos, he has enjoyed a wonderfully multi-faceted career which has led to collaborations with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson, John Corigliano, Vladimir Feltsman, John Zorn, and many others.
